SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 175
Celebrating the life of Lydia Marie Kiser.

WHEREAS, Lydia Marie Kiser, who worked to enhance the quality of life of all members of the community as a longtime employee of the Russell County Department of Social Services, died on November 4, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a native of Russell County, Lydia Kiser was a graduate of Castlewood High School; and

WHEREAS, Lydia Kiser dedicated her life to the service of others while working at the Russell County Department of Social Services for 37 years; and

WHEREAS, beginning her career as a clerk, Lydia Kiser rose through the ranks to become a benefits program specialist and was recognized as one of the most knowledgeable social work professionals in the Commonwealth for her expertise on Title IV, Part E of the Social Security Act; and

WHEREAS, Lydia Kiser was a talented artist and musician and an avid fan of the Duke University Blue Devils; she enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her three feline companions; and

WHEREAS, Lydia Kiser will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her father, Charles; sisters, Toni and Missie; nieces, Ivy and Mary; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Lydia Marie Kiser; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lydia Marie Kiser as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
