16100150DWHEREAS, Sherri Moyer Brooks, a courageous and inspiring member of the Nelson County community who always saw the positive side of life, died on July 20, 2015, after a long battle with cancer; and
WHEREAS, Sherri Brooks met her husband, David, in high school, and the pair was largely inseparable, especially through her five-year battle with Stage IV colon cancer; and
WHEREAS, earning the admiration of friends and neighbors, Sherri Brooks proudly maintained a motto to keep positive because life is good and demonstrated an unerring, graceful concern for the well-being of others; and
WHEREAS, Sherri Brooks was a staunch supporter and an enthusiastic advocate for Relay for Life, a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, and her passionate influence was felt at local races; and
WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Sherri Brooks took comfort in God’s plan; she enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community at Calvary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Sherri Brooks will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her beloved husband, David; mother, Nannie; and numerous other family members, friends, and individuals battling cancer; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Sherri Moyer Brooks, a beloved member of the Nelson County community who worked to support and inspire cancer survivors; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Sherri Moyer Brooks as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
