Celebrating the life of Kathleen Flanagan McManus.

WHEREAS, Kathleen Flanagan McManus of Springfield, a devoted nurse who cared for many patients in Northern Virginia and a beloved wife and mother, died on November 27, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a native of Bangor, Maine, Kathleen “Kate” McManus graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School as salutatorian and later earned a nursing degree, finishing at the top of her class; and

WHEREAS, after marrying her high school sweetheart, Reginald McManus, M.D., she relocated to Washington D.C., and worked as a nurse in his private medical practice; and

WHEREAS, Kate McManus lived her deep faith through her generous actions, and she devoted her life to spreading joy to others through her compassion, wisdom, and grace; and

WHEREAS, as the loving matriarch of a large family, Kate McManus’ proudest vocation was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and

WHEREAS, Kate McManus will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 60 years, Reginald; children, Christopher, Kathy, Patrick, Anna, John, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Kathleen Flanagan McManus, an admired caregiver, and a beloved wife and mother in the Springfield community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Kathleen Flanagan McManus as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
