Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 8 of Chapter 7 of Title 18.2 a section numbered 18.2-462.2 as follows:

§ 18.2-462.2. Use of unmanned aircraft system in commission of crime; penalty.

Any person who knowingly uses or attempts to use an unmanned aircraft system as defined in § 19.2-60.1 while (i) committing or attempting to commit a crime, (ii) obstructing or attempting to obstruct the delivery of emergency medical services by emergency medical services agency personnel, or (iii) obstructing or attempting to obstruct any law-enforcement officer or animal control officer in the performance of his duties is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. A violation of this section is a separate and distinct offense.
