HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 8 Commending the Deep Run High School golf team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 15, 2016

 

WHEREAS, the Deep Run High School golf team captured its second state championship in three years by winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 5A title on October 13, 2015; and

WHEREAS, the talented and determined golfers from the Henrico County school defeated a hard-working team from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria by 14 strokes; and

WHEREAS, the two-day tournament was held at Magnolia Green Golf Club in Moseley; the challenging course was ably handled by the Deep Run Wildcats, and the team was in the lead after the first day of competition with Taylor Hade and Jack D’Aiutolo both ending the round with 76, the team’s lowest scores; and

WHEREAS, on the second day of competition, four Deep Run golfers posted scores under 79; at the end of the contest, Alex Taylor and Adam Hade had placed in the top six, individually qualifying for the Group 5A All-State team—Alex Taylor was third, and Adam Hade was in a three-way tie for fifth place; and

WHEREAS, the win was a team effort, and Deep Run High School head golf coach, Josh Aldrich, credited the Wildcats for their determination and discipline to emerge victorious—especially after a second-place finish in 2014; and

WHEREAS, throughout the 2015 season, the members of the Deep Run High School golf team were enthusiastically supported by their families, fellow students, and the entire school community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Deep Run High School golf team hereby be commended for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 5A title, the team’s second state championship in three years; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Josh Aldrich, head coach of the Deep Run High School golf team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the team’s championship season and stellar performance.
