2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Prince William County Bar Association, Inc., celebrates 75 years of upholding the practice of law, promoting professionalism among its members, and providing charitable outreach efforts and an array of legally related activities to the community; and
WHEREAS, when it was formed on July 25, 1941, the Prince William County Bar Association’s total membership of seven included every attorney in the county; today, mirroring Prince William County’s tremendous population growth, the organization has more than 450 members; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Prince William County Bar Association is to maintain the honor and dignity of the practice of law, promote the administration of justice, encourage professionalism and collegiality among its members, and contribute to the quality of life in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Prince William County Bar Association is dedicated to improving access to justice by providing numerous pro bono and low cost legal services to low income and underserved residents of Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, including alternative dispute resolution, wills for veterans and first responders, and assistance with victims of domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, the Prince William County Bar Association has a long history of service to the citizens of Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park by virtue of its work with elementary, middle, and high school students and with at-risk youth, senior citizens, and the homeless; and
WHEREAS, the Prince William County Bar Association advances professionalism and collegiality within the membership by providing forums for communication, education, mentoring, business development, and networking; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Prince William County Bar Association, Inc., hereby be commended on the occasion of its 75th anniversary for its efforts to promote the highest caliber of legal standards among its members and the charitable outreach and legally related services it provides; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jeanice B. Wiethop, president of the Prince William County Bar Association, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for its many years of service to the legal community and the people of Prince William County.
