HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 52

 

Commending Jacob Clopton.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 29, 2016

 

WHEREAS, Jacob Clopton, a first responder who is dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of community members, was named a 2015 Fauquier County Citizen of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Fauquier County Citizen of the Year award honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their fellow Fauquier County residents or the county as a whole; Jacob Clopton was nominated by Lee District Supervisor Chester Stribling; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Clopton was a customer at Stribling Service Center in August 2015 when Chester Stribling collapsed and stopped breathing; he responded quickly and decisively to help save the man’s life; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Clopton, then training as an emergency medical technician, used a pocket mask to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and continued to assist with the situation after a local sheriff’s deputy retrieved an automated external defibrillator from his car and used it to revive Chester Stribling; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Clopton is an exemplar of the dedication, professionalism, and concern for the community displayed by first responders throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Jacob Clopton hereby be commended on being named a 2015 Fauquier County Citizen of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jacob Clopton as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his contributions to the Fauquier County community.
