16103234DWHEREAS, H.B. Gee, Jr., a respected member of the Kenbridge community, has served and safeguarded his fellow residents in a number of capacities, including as an active firefighter with the Kenbridge Fire Department for 62 years; and
WHEREAS, H.B. Gee joined the Kenbridge Fire Department on February 9, 1954, and remains an active member of the department in 2016, having completed more than 1,000 hours of state-certified firefighter training and risen to the rank of fire lieutenant; and
WHEREAS, H.B. Gee offered his wisdom and expertise to numerous Kenbridge Fire Department committees, including the nominating committee and fire prevention committee; he was also a charter member of the Kenbridge Emergency Squad; and
WHEREAS, H.B. Gee’s two sons have followed in their father’s footsteps and joined the Kenbridge Fire Department to safeguard the lives and property of community members; and
WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to his fellow residents, H.B. Gee ran for and was elected to the Kenbridge Town Council, where he worked to enhance the quality of life in the town for many years; and
WHEREAS, H.B. Gee served the Commonwealth as a member of the Virginia National Guard for 30 years, retiring with the rank of staff sergeant, and he is a current member of the Virginia Defense Force; and
WHEREAS, well-known in the Town of Kenbridge, H.B. Gee served as the town’s postmaster for 30 years and still works at Smith’s Pharmacy in Kenbridge as a pharmacy tech; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That H.B. Gee, Jr., a highly admired firefighter and dedicated public servant in Kenbridge hereby be commended on the occasion of his 62nd anniversary as an active member of the Kenbridge Fire Department; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to H.B. Gee, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his legacy of exceptional service to the Kenbridge community.
