HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 36 Offered January 13, 2016 Prefiled December 29, 2015 Commending the Hickory High School girls' swim team. ---------- Patron-- Leftwich ----------

WHEREAS, the Hickory High School girls’ swim team of Chesapeake took first place in two events to finish in fifth place overall in the Virginia High School League Group 5A state final in 2015; and

WHEREAS, the Hickory Hawks’ 400-yard freestyle relay team—Allison Ramirez, Sydney Hall, Cora Delgado, and Susan Hynes—took first place with a time of 3:33.96; and

WHEREAS, the Hickory Hawks’ Susan Hynes placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.38 and second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.02; and

WHEREAS, the Hickory Hawks’ Cora Delgado also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.59; and

WHEREAS, the Hickory High School victories are a testament to the talent and dedication of the swimmers, the leadership of the coaches and staff, and the passionate support of the entire Hickory High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Hickory High School girls’ swim team hereby be commended on placing first in two events and fifth overall at the Virginia High School League Group 5A state final in 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Katie Beodeker, head coach of the Hickory High School girls’ swim team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the team’s performance.
