2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, Wilfredo Osorio Darang of Virginia Beach, a decorated veteran of the United States military, man of great faith who was involved in many service organizations, and a devoted husband and father, died on February 17, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Wilfredo “Willy” Osorio Darang was born in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, and proudly served for 21 years as a member of the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, during his years of military service, Willy Darang was awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Navy Unit Commendation, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; and
WHEREAS, Willy Darang’s favorite profession was that of loving grandfather to his 12 grandchildren and he greatly enjoyed his roles of babysitter, chauffer, caregiver, teammate, mentor, spoiler, and comedian; and
WHEREAS, many service and social organizations benefited from Willy Darang’s involvement and contributions, including Fil-AM Veterans of Tidewater, Naomi Lodge #87 A.F. & A.M., the United Ilocano Association of Tidewater, Inc., and the Pangasinan Association of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, a man of great faith, Willy Darang belonged to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, where he participated in worship and fellowship; and
WHEREAS, Willy Darang will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, Purita; children, Wilita, Wilma, and Wilfred, and their families; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Wilfredo Osorio Darang of Virginia Beach, a proud veteran of the United States military, active member of many community and service organizations, and a devoted husband and father; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Wilfredo Osorio Darang as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
