HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 233
Commending the Vienna Jammers.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 10, 2016

 

WHEREAS, the Vienna Jammers received the 2015 Emerging Arts Award from the Arts Council of Fairfax County for their exceptional service to local youth and the community; and

WHEREAS, the Vienna Jammers were selected for the prestigious award by the Arts Council of Fairfax County and community representatives; they were honored on October 30, 2015, before more than 400 guests at the 2015 Arts Awards luncheon; and

WHEREAS, the Vienna Jammers have grown from a small, afterschool music program to a professional percussion, music education, and performance organization for children aged eight to 16; and

WHEREAS, in 2012, the Vienna Jammers were incorporated as a nonprofit arts organization, which now comprises more than 90 members in four percussion ensembles: Jammers Red, Jammers Black, Jammers Lite, and Jammers Steel; and

WHEREAS, the Vienna Jammers have brought joy to countless music enthusiasts, performing with their signature red Brute trash cans throughout Fairfax County, and they have completed generous outreach projects, including educational programs and youth camps; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Vienna Jammers hereby be commended on receiving the Emerging Arts Award from the Arts Council of Fairfax County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Vienna Jammers as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the team’s achievements and best wishes for the future.
