Commending the Stone Bridge High School hockey team.

WHEREAS, the Stone Bridge High School hockey team capped off an undefeated season by winning the 2016 Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League championship; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Stone Bridge High School hockey team won the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League title game by a score of 6 - 0 over a talented team from Woodbridge High School; and

WHEREAS, during the game, which was played on February 26, 2016, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, the Stone Bridge High School Bulldogs were led by the top scorers in area high school hockey, Cade Groton and Ryan Leibold; and

WHEREAS, Cade Groton made one goal and had three assists at the title game; Ryan Leibold had three goals, two of which came in the opening period, and Nick Haeff and Ian Ross completed the scoring for Stone Bridge High School, with one goal each; and

WHEREAS, during the 2015 - 2016 season, the hardworking team from Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn amassed 120 goals against a total of four goals by its opponents; it was the Loudoun County school’s second consecutive undefeated season; and

WHEREAS, the talented and focused members of the Bulldogs hockey team were greatly supported by their families, friends, fellow students, and the staff of Stone Bridge High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Stone Bridge High School hockey team hereby be commended for winning the 2016 Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Stone Bridge High School hockey team as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the team’s outstanding accomplishment and championship season.
