HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 17 Offered January 13, 2016 Prefiled December 5, 2015 Celebrating the life of Gail Drewery Brock. ---------- Patron-- Morris ----------

WHEREAS, Gail Drewery Brock of Surry, a respected educator and a beloved member of the community, died on May 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Gail Brock helped prepare the youth of the Commonwealth for higher education, careers, and responsible citizenship as a teacher at Isle of Wight Academy for 25 years; her greatest joy was sharing in the successes of her students, and she was admired as a trusted mentor; and

WHEREAS, Gail Brock also served as a teacher for Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools for 15 years; a passionate lifelong learner, she enjoyed reading and gardening; and

WHEREAS, Gail Brock enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of Surry United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Gail Brock will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 40 years, John; her children, Jay, Jeff, and Stephanie, and their families; her father, Frank; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Gail Drewery Brock, an inspirational educator and an active member of the Surry community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Gail Drewery Brock as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for her memory.
