Commending Leadership Loudoun.

WHEREAS, in 2016, Leadership Loudoun proudly celebrates 25 years of developing current and emerging leaders who are dedicated to working for the betterment of their community and the greater Loudoun County area; and

WHEREAS, Leadership Loudoun was founded by the County of Loudoun, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, and Loudoun County Volunteer Services; the highly regarded nonprofit organization sponsors in-depth leadership training and support programs open to anyone who lives or works in the county; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of Leadership Loudoun’s flagship training program is to develop a pool of leaders who strive to do what is in the best interests of the county and whom local organizations can call on to meet community service needs; and

WHEREAS, those who participate in Leadership Loudoun’s nine-month training programs learn more about themselves, explore the history and culture of Loudoun County, identify and examine issues that are important to the community, and work to make a positive change; they are part of a network of citizens who want to make a difference; and

WHEREAS, more than 500 people have taken part in one of Leadership Loudoun’s training programs, creating a diverse group from many different professional backgrounds; Leadership Loudoun graduates represent business, government, the nonprofit sector, education, human services, and faith-based organizations; and

WHEREAS, the people who take part in Leadership Loudoun go on to serve Loudoun County in myriad ways; they willingly lend their time and talents to serve on commissions, committees, and boards; and

WHEREAS, in the last 25 years, the men and women who have participated in Leadership Loudoun programs also have completed nearly 100 community impact projects, demonstrating a deep commitment to the county and building an admirable legacy of service; and

WHEREAS, Leadership Loudoun has produced committed and inspiring leaders who have forged strong bonds during the nine-month program, resulting in a network of resourceful, active, and engaged citizens dedicated to the improvement of Loudoun County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Leadership Loudoun hereby be commended on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Leadership Loudoun as an expression of the House of Delegate’s respect and congratulations for its deep commitment to developing strong and engaged leaders who willingly give of their time and talents for the betterment of Loudoun County and the Commonwealth.
