16105439DWHEREAS, Sara Christie, an exceptional primary school educator in Ashburn, received a 2015 Virginia Lottery Super Teacher award; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Lottery Super Teacher awards are presented annually to eight outstanding kindergarten through 12th-grade educators representing different regions of the Commonwealth; Sara Christie was one of more than 850 nominees for the award; and
WHEREAS, Sara Christie strives to build a family atmosphere in her classrooms and encourages positive behavior by rewarding students’ actions that help strengthen the entire class as a community of learners; and
WHEREAS, believing strongly in the importance of developing a love for reading at a young age, Sara Christie sends students home with books written by authors or tied to themes that interest them; and
WHEREAS, Sara Christie emphasizes critical thinking skills and cooperation through hands-on projects, and she helps students reenergize their minds through breaks with educational songs or other activities; and
WHEREAS, as winner of a Virginia Lottery Super Teacher award, Sara Christie received a $2,000 cash prize and a $2,000 classroom credit from The Supply Room Companies; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Sara Christie hereby be commended on receiving a 2015 Virginia Lottery Super Teacher award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sara Christie as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for her commitment to serving and inspiring the youth of the Ashburn community.
