Celebrating the life of Fred Rabil.

WHEREAS, Fred Rabil, a respected restaurant owner and a devoted servant to the Franklin community, died on March 20, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a second-generation Lebanese immigrant, Fred Rabil traveled the United States looking for work during the Great Depression; after World War II, he settled in Franklin and worked for his uncle in a bakery; and

WHEREAS, Fred Rabil became a cherished member of the Franklin community as the proprietor of Fred’s Restaurant, where he offered delicious comfort food in a welcoming atmosphere for 70 years; and

WHEREAS, Fred Rabil was a charter member of the Franklin Kiwanis Club, and he worked to strengthen the community’s future by supporting youth baseball programs and other charitable organizations; he enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of St. Jude Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, a proud and patriotic American, Fred Rabil visited all 50 states in his lifetime and relished the opportunity to name all 50 state capitals to anyone who would challenge him; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his first wife, Pauline, Fred Rabil will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Joyce; sons, Frank, John, and David, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Fred Rabil, an admired restaurateur and community leader in Franklin; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Fred Rabil as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
