16100061DWHEREAS, Luther B. Vick, Jr., of Burrowsville, a former volunteer firefighter and longtime employee of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, died on April 18, 2015; and
WHEREAS, a native of Southampton County, Luther Vick earned a reputation throughout his life as a loyal friend and a hard worker; and
WHEREAS, Luther Vick later relocated to Prince George County and served the youth of the community by maintaining county school buses; and
WHEREAS, in 1967, Luther Vick joined the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and worked at the Presquile National Wildlife Refuge and the James River National Wildlife Refuge, also serving as a part-time game warden, until his well-earned retirement in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Luther Vick proudly safeguarded the lives and property of his fellow Prince George County residents as a volunteer firefighter; during his 55-year career, he served with Prince George Company 1 and Burrowsville Company 4; and
WHEREAS, a devoted father, Luther Vick will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Dena, Dennis, Bryan, Michael, Kevin, Sarah, and Lisa, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Luther B. Vick, Jr., a former firefighter and game warden and an active member of the Prince George County community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Luther B. Vick, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
