2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, Goochland Middle School has been honored as one of the nation’s Schools to Watch by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform; and
WHEREAS, Goochland Middle School was recognized by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform for the school’s academic excellence, social equitability, and responsiveness to the developmental needs of middle school students; and
WHEREAS, as the only middle school in Goochland County, Goochland Middle School enrolls 574 students in grades six through eight; Principal Jennifer Rucker supervises a focused and highly qualified staff as they strive to bring out the best in boys and girls during their early adolescence; and
WHEREAS, the Schools to Watch program is a nationally recognized, state-operated school evaluation program that focuses on pupils in fifth grade through eighth grade; in the Commonwealth, the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform works with the Virginia Middle School Association; and
WHEREAS, the warm learning environment found at Goochland Middle School is emblematic of the optimism and eagerness to learn shown by the students; the staff readily encourage and reinforce the students to put forth their best efforts, and they also work closely with parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Goochland Middle School hereby be commended for being named one of the Schools to Watch in the United States by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jennifer Rucker, principal of Goochland Middle School, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the school’s stellar achievements and outstanding accomplishment.
