HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 124
Commending James C. Vaughan.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 12, 2016

 

WHEREAS, James C. Vaughan, a dedicated public servant and a man of deep and abiding faith, retired as a member of the Greensville County Board of Supervisors in 2015 after two decades of service; and

WHEREAS, a proud, lifelong resident of Greensville County, James Vaughan was a loyal employee of Federal Paper and Board for 25 years and served as president of Local Union 1825 for six years; and

WHEREAS, James Vaughan later served the youth of the community as an employee of Greensville County Public Schools for 21 years, then became a member of the Greensville County Planning Commission; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to the community, James Vaughan filled a vacant seat on the Greensville County Board of Supervisors in 1995 and went on to represent the Hicksford District for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, James Vaughan has also worked to strengthen and enhance the community as a member of the board of directors of the local Boys and Girls Club for two years and chair of the Greensville County Social Services Board for eight years; and

WHEREAS, James Vaughan lives his faith through his actions and enjoys fellowship and worship as a life member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and supervisor of the church cemetery and has held numerous other leadership positions; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That James C. Vaughan hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement as a member of the Greensville County Board of Supervisors in 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James C. Vaughan as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his diligent service to the residents of Greensville County and the Commonwealth.
