HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 521
Commending Mudra Arts Center.

WHEREAS, since 2009, Mudra Arts Center in Sterling has promoted Indian cultural heritage through music, dance, performing arts, literature, and philosophy to people of all ages and backgrounds throughout Northern Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Mudra Arts Center offers more than 50 classes throughout Loudoun County and Northern Virginia; the organization offers individual and group classes at its main location in Sterling, as well as in Brambleton, Ashburn, South Riding, and Herndon; and

WHEREAS, open year-round, Mudra Arts Center is the region’s premier destination for Indian dances and Carnatic and Hindustani vocal and instrumentation classes, and the center provides Bollywood and Bhangra performers for local special events; and

WHEREAS, Mudra Arts Center also celebrates traditional Indian festivals, such as Holi, the Indian Festival of Colors, and hosts a special cultural summer camp for children ages six to 12; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Mudra Arts Center for its work to enrich cultural life in Northern Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mudra Arts Center as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the center’s contributions to Sterling and the entire Northern Virginia community.
