16106111DWHEREAS, Preddy Funeral Home has provided compassionate, dignified, and devoted service to the residents of Madison County and Orange County for 100 years; and
WHEREAS, Preddy Funeral Home was established in 1916 by W. R. Preddy, a former grocer in the Town of Gordonsville; at the time, there was no funeral director or embalmer in Orange County; and
WHEREAS, in 1920, W. R. Preddy expanded the business from Gordonsville to the Town of Orange, and the business thrived with the help and hard work of his nephews, Jimmy and Joe, and Joe’s son, Tony; and
WHEREAS, Preddy Funeral home opened a third location in the Town of Madison on July 3, 1994; today a fourth generation of Preddy family members serves as funeral directors, including Jimmy Preddy’s son, Randy, and grandson, Michael, and Tony Preddy’s son, Barry; and
WHEREAS, from its three current locations in the Towns of Gordonsville, Madison, and Orange, Preddy Funeral Home has supported countless families in the Piedmont region in their time of greatest need; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Preddy Funeral Home on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in 2016; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Preddy Funeral Home as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for its service to the residents of the Madison County and Orange County communities.
