WHEREAS, Yvonne Marie Ciarlo Selke, a beloved mother, wife, and friend in Nokesville who served her country for many years as a member of the United States Army, died on March 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, a native of Springfield Township, Pennsylvania, Yvonne Selke graduated from Springfield High School; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Selke earned a bachelor’s degree from Gannon University, where she enrolled in the Reserve Officer Training Corps and received the George C. Marshall Award for her integrity, commitment, and leadership abilities; and

WHEREAS, commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army after college, Yvonne Selke served her country at home and abroad for many years, receiving several awards and decorations for her meritorious service; she retired with the rank of major; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Selke later offered her national defense expertise to Booz Allen Hamilton as a consultant and continued to serve her country with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency; and

WHEREAS, Yvonne Selke, who died together with her daughter, Emily, will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Raymond; son, Trevor; mother, Julia; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Yvonne Marie Ciarlo Selke, a beloved member of the Nokesville community and a respected veteran; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Yvonne Marie Ciarlo Selke as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
