Celebrating the life of Carl William Cardwell.

WHEREAS, Carl William Cardwell, an ever-present volunteer and supporter of the Town of Saltville, active member of the Saltville community and its organizations, and a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died on December 13, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Carl William Cardwell bravely served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1955; and

WHEREAS, Carl William Cardwell helped safeguard his fellow Saltville residents as a charter member of the Saltville Rescue Squad; and

WHEREAS, Carl William Cardwell served as a member of the Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, Carl William Cardwell shared his time, effort, and passion as a volunteer with several community organizations, including the Saltville Little League and the Saltville Labor Day Committee; and

WHEREAS, Carl William Cardwell was a strong supporter of all Northwood High School athletic teams and a constant presence at such events; and

WHEREAS, the contributions, kindness, and humor of Carl William Cardwell touched the lives of many local high school athletes, coaches, teachers, community leaders, and his fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, Carl William Cardwell will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his devoted wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, colleagues, and members of the Saltville community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Carl William Cardwell, a dedicated volunteer and supporter of the Saltville community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Carl William Cardwell as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
