HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 433 Offered March 3, 2016 Commending the Yorktown High School gymnastics team. ---------- Patrons-- Sullivan, Hope and Levine; Senator: Favola ----------

WHEREAS, the Yorktown High School gymnastics team claimed the school’s first Virginia High School League Group 6A regional championship, winning the Group 6A North meet in February 2016; and

WHEREAS, in a tense regional tournament, the Yorktown High School Patriots bested the second-place West Springfield High School Spartans with a score of 146.05; and

WHEREAS, Julia Hays of the Yorktown Patriots took first place in the all-around and won the individual regional title in the floor and beam events; and

WHEREAS, Juliette Mitrovich took second in the all-around and on the beam and tied for third in the floor routine; Olivia Zavrel also took third place on the bars; and

WHEREAS, with the regional win, the Yorktown High School Patriots advanced to the state tournament in Virginia Beach; and

WHEREAS, the successful season is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of the student-athletes, the leadership of the coaches and staff, and the passionate support of the entire Yorktown High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Yorktown High School gymnastics team on winning the Virginia High School League Group 6A North regional championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Joanne Price and Jessie Everett, coaches of the Yorktown High School gymnastics team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the team’s achievements.
