Commending John Mosesso.

WHEREAS, John Mosesso, a longtime volunteer for schools, sports programs, and community ventures who has generously devoted his time and talents to many organizations and cultural events in the Herndon area, was named Herndon Citizen of the Year; and

WHEREAS, John Mosesso has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Herndon community for more than 25 years; he is the 50th recipient of the annual award, which is presented by the Rotary Club of Herndon; and

WHEREAS, for more than 20 years, John Mosesso has been the volunteer coordinator for the Herndon Festival, a four-day outdoor event that attracts an average of 80,000 people to historic downtown Herndon; and

WHEREAS, from 1991 to 2013, John Mosesso was chair of the annual Herndon High School Homecoming Parade, which brings thousands of spectators to watch numerous floats, school bands, neighborhood clubs and teams, and local officials march through town; it is one of Herndon’s most anticipated civic events; and

WHEREAS, additionally, John Mosesso provides advice and leadership as president of the Park View High School Parent-Teacher-Student Organization, and in 2007 - 2008, he was president of the Forest Grove Elementary Parent Teacher Association; and

WHEREAS, John Mosesso has lent his organizational talents to two volleyball leagues; he has been administrator of Northwest Youth Volleyball and was Sterling Middle School coach and Sterling representative to Loudoun Youth Volleyball; and

WHEREAS, another community group that benefited from John Mosesso’s volunteer efforts was the Federal Children’s Center of Northern Virginia, now known as the Herndon Children’s Center, where he served on the board of directors; and

WHEREAS, John Mosesso also was a member of the advisory board for the Sterling Community Center, and was president and chair of the board of the Greater Herndon Jaycees; and

WHEREAS, John Mosesso was previously named Herndon Citizen of the Year in 2000 by the Times Community Newspapers; his leadership, dedication, and commitment have made the Herndon community a better place to live, work, and visit; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend John Mosesso on being named Herndon Citizen of the Year by the Herndon Rotary Club for his work to enhance the quality of life of all Herndon residents; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to John Mosesso as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his legacy of service to the Herndon community.
