HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 414 Offered March 2, 2016 Commending the Lake Braddock Secondary School coed cross country team. ---------- Patrons-- Filler-Corn and Watts; Senator: Marsden ----------

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Secondary School coed cross country team claimed two state titles in 2015, winning the Virginia High School League Group 6A boys’ and girls’ state championships; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Secondary School Bruins won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group 6A girls’ cross country state championship, claiming their second girls’ state title in four years; and

WHEREAS, Kate Murphy won the individual state title with a time of 18:20; Sarah Daniels finished in 10th place, Emily Schiesl finished in 11th place, Sonya Butseva finished in 14th place, and Samantha Schwers finished in 16th place; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Secondary School Bruins won the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group 6A boys’ cross country state championship, claiming their second consecutive boys’ state title; and

WHEREAS, Colin Schaefer led the boys’ team, finishing in fourth place with a time of 16:02; Conor Lyons finished in eighth place, Spencer Jolley finished in 11th place, Cavanaugh McGaw finished in 14th place, and Evan Chase finished in 22nd place; and

WHEREAS, the successful season is a testament to the skills and perseverance of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of the coaches and staff, and the energetic support of the entire Lake Braddock Secondary School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Lake Braddock Secondary School coed cross country team on winning two Virginia High School League Group 6A state titles in 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Lake Braddock Secondary School coed cross country team as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the program’s accomplishments and best wishes for the future.
