HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 377 Offered February 26, 2016 Commending the McLean High School wrestling team. ---------- Patrons-- Sullivan; Senators: Favola and Howell ----------

WHEREAS, the McLean High School wrestling team proudly finished the 2015 - 2016 season with three individual champions at the Virginia High School League Group 6A North regional tournament and two individual champions at the state tournament in February 2016; and

WHEREAS, at the regional tournament, the McLean High School Highlanders finished in fourth place overall with 134 points and earned the Sportsmanship Award; and

WHEREAS, Brendan Grammes took first place in the 138-pound weight class, as did Conor Grammes in the 160-pound weight class and Gavin Legg in the 170-pound weight class; all three wrestlers finished with 4 - 0 records; and

WHEREAS, the McLean High School Highlanders advanced to the state tournament in Virginia Beach, where Brendan Grammes and Conor Grammes were crowned individual champions in their weight classes with 3 - 0 tournament records; and

WHEREAS, the McLean High School wrestling team succeeded through the hard work of all of the student-athletes, the leadership of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the entire McLean High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the McLean High School wrestling team on its success at the Virginia High School League Group 6A North regional and state tournaments in 2016; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the McLean High School wrestling team as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the team’s dedication and skill.
