HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 373 Offered February 26, 2016 Commending the Nansemond River High School wrestling team. ---------- Patron-- Jones ----------

WHEREAS, the Nansemond River High School wrestling team capped off an impressive 2015 - 2016 season by winning the Virginia High School League Conference 10 championship, the school’s first conference title; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Nansemond River High School wrestling team scored 244 points at the Conference 10 meet, defeating six other hardworking teams at the competition, which was held on February 6, 2016, at the school; and

WHEREAS, two members of the Nansemond River High School Warriors wrestling team were undefeated, Malcolm Dawson, who competes in the 113-pound weight class, and heavyweight Dia Gray; the two wrestlers amassed more than 65 wins during the 2015 - 2016 season; and

WHEREAS, many factors led to the Nansemond River Warriors’ resounding victory at the Conference 10 wrestling meet, including a concerted team effort, especially in the lower weight classes; and

WHEREAS, the head coach of the Nansemond River High School wrestling team, James “Tripp” Seed, was named Conference Coach of the Year for 2015 - 2016; his encouragement and guidance throughout the season helped propel the team to victory; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Nansemond River Warriors wrestling team were also greatly supported throughout the 2015 - 2016 championship season by their families, friends, and the school community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Nansemond River High School wrestling team for winning the 2015 - 2016 Virginia High School League Conference 10 championship, the school’s first conference victory in wrestling; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James Seed, head coach of the Nansemond River High School wrestling team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the school’s outstanding performance and championship season.
