HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 367
Commending McLean Little League.

WHEREAS, McLean Little League, a youth softball and baseball league in Fairfax County, has provided boys and girls with opportunities for athletics and recreation for 60 years; and

WHEREAS, established in 1955 as the Chesterbrook Little League, McLean Little League originally played its games at Chesterbrook Presbyterian Church; and

WHEREAS, in 1960, with the assistance and support of Little League, Inc., McLean Little League purchased a large wooded area on Westmoreland Street for the construction of new playing fields; and

WHEREAS, today, McLean Little League hosts t-ball, softball, and baseball games for multiple ages and levels of play at McLean Little League Complex and other fields throughout the community; and

WHEREAS, striving to ensure an inclusive atmosphere for all young athletes, McLean Little League offers challenger baseball and softball teams for children with special needs; and

WHEREAS, in its 60-year history, McLean Little League has imparted the values of sportsmanship, fair play, skill development, and mutual respect to countless boys and girls in the Fairfax County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend McLean Little League on the occasion of its 60th anniversary in 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mike Semel, president of McLean Little League, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the league’s decades of contributions to boys and girls in McLean.
