2016 SESSION
16105265DWHEREAS, the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team claimed its second consecutive state title, winning the Virginia High School League Group 5A state championship in March 2015; and
WHEREAS, the versatile Atlee High School Raiders scored points in nearly every event in the state final, which was held at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton; and
WHEREAS, the Atlee High School Raiders won the 4x800-meter relay, finished second in the 1,600-meter run and the high jump, and ended the day with 61 points overall; and
WHEREAS, throughout the competition, each of the student-athletes on the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team demonstrated perseverance and a commitment to teamwork; and
WHEREAS, the Atlee High School Raiders benefited from the able leadership of the coaches and staff and the support of the entire Atlee High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team on winning the Virginia High School League Group 5A state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jim Triemplar, head coach of the Atlee High School girls’ indoor track and field team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the team’s achievements and best wishes for the future.
