WHEREAS, Chester W. Stribling of Bealeton, the longest-serving member of the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors who represented the residents of the Lee District for three terms, retired from public office in 2015; and

WHEREAS, a longtime resident of Fauquier County, Chester Stribling graduated from Germanna Community College; driven to enhance the quality of life of his fellow county residents, he successfully ran for election to the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Chester Stribling faithfully served the residents of the Lee District from 2004 to 2015, running unopposed for all three of his terms; he served as vice-chair in 2012 and 2013 and chair in 2008, 2014, and 2015; and

WHEREAS, Chester Stribling worked to provide a voice for all residents of his district and strengthened the infrastructure of Fauquier County; he helped allocate millions of dollars to hire more professional firefighters and first responders and to better support volunteers; and

WHEREAS, during Chester Stribling’s 12-year tenure, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors created new opportunities for local youth by facilitating the construction of Kettle Run High School and Greenville Elementary School, as well as major renovations to Fauquier High School; and

WHEREAS, an automobile mechanic by trade, Chester Stribling is a principal of Stribling Service Center in Morrisville, and he is a past president of the Southern Fauquier Business Owners Association; and

WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement from public office, Chester Stribling plans to spend more time with his family and seek new opportunities to serve the Fauquier County community, including through his involvement with Truth Baptist Church; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Chester W. Stribling on the occasion of his retirement as a member of the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chester W. Stribling as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his outstanding service to the residents of Fauquier County.
