2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, William J. Wilde of Thiensville, Wisconsin, a patriotic veteran, successful entrepreneur, volunteer firefighter, and active member of the community, died on January 8, 2016; and
WHEREAS, a native of Milwaukee, William Wilde married the former Jeanne G. Gearhard in 1952; and
WHEREAS, desirous to be of service to his country, William Wilde joined many of the other young men of his generation as a member of the United States Army during World War II; and
WHEREAS, after his honorable military service, William Wilde returned to the United States and served the Milwaukee community in the printing business; and
WHEREAS, as the owner and operator of Gillfoy, Willis & Wilde, William Wilde offered high-quality, custom printing services to individuals and businesses until his well-earned retirement in 2002; and
WHEREAS, in his free time, William Wilde enjoyed relaxing in the great outdoors on fishing trips to Rolling Stone Lake in Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, William Wilde’s daughter, Joan Keene, ably serves the Commonwealth as an administrative assistant in the Virginia House of Delegates; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by his wife, Jeanne, William Wilde will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, James, Anne, Joan, Charles, Denise, Daniel, Mary, and Mark, and their families, and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of William J. Wilde, a respected veteran, entrepreneur, and volunteer firefighter; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of William J. Wilde as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
