16104952DWHEREAS, the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company, an exceptional public safety unit, has safeguarded the lives and property of Orange County residents for 100 years; and
WHEREAS, the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company was established by concerned community members in 1916, after a historic fire destroyed most of the buildings in downtown Gordonsville; and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company has provided unsurpassed services to the residents of the Town of Gordonsville by ensuring that firefighters receive the highest-quality training and equipment; and
WHEREAS, the hardworking members of the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company are exemplars of the dedication, courage, and care for the community displayed by fire companies throughout the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company will commemorate its 100th anniversary with a parade on April 2, 2016, followed by an open house at the fire station featuring speakers, entertainment, an awards ceremony, and fireworks; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ronnie Johnson, Chief of the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company, as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the company’s legacy of service to the Gordonsville community.
