2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, Stephen W. Morris of Bristol, a successful businessperson, a loving husband and father, and a friend to many people, all of whom treasured his company, died on November 6, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Stephen “Steve” W. Morris, who was reared in Nicholas County, West Virginia, graduated from Richwood High School and Shepherd College; he then embarked on a long and successful career in the natural resources field; and
WHEREAS, for many years Steve Morris worked as an executive with the Pittston Coal Company; he then became an independent businessman whose ventures included coal, gas, and timber projects; he was known for his business acumen; and
WHEREAS, making friends came easily to Steve Morris; he is remembered for his smile and hearty greetings and for his social nature; he had many friends in Virginia, West Virginia, and Florida and they recall with fondness the excellent company that he provided; and
WHEREAS, in addition to finding success working in the natural resources field, Steve Morris also enjoyed being in the great outdoors; he especially treasured the time he spent with his golfing and fishing buddies; and
WHEREAS, Steve Morris will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, Barbara; children, Christopher, Christine, and Ellen, and their families; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Stephen W. Morris of Bristol, a successful businessperson, a loving husband and father, and a great friend to many people; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Stephen W. Morris as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
