HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 255
Commending Wayne A. Acors.

WHEREAS, Wayne A. Acors admirably served the people of Caroline County as a member of the Board of Supervisors for 28 years, providing guidance and sound advice as he sought to do what was best for the county and its residents; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Acors represented the Madison District on the Caroline County Board of Supervisors beginning in 1988, and served with distinction until December 31, 2015; he was elected chair of the board in 1990, 1992, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2012; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Caroline County Board of Supervisors, Wayne Acors always focused on what was in the best interests of the county, and he spent countless hours addressing the issues and concerns of his constituents; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Acors represented Caroline County as a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of Counties, serving in a variety of leadership roles; in 2004, he became the first member of the Caroline County Board of Supervisors to be named president of the association; and

WHEREAS, additionally, Wayne Acors served the residents and businesses of Caroline County as a member of the Caroline County Industrial Development Authority for 10 years and was chair for seven years; he also served for eight years on the Caroline County Social Services Board; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Acors, who is a retired transportation manager for the Virginia Alcoholic and Beverage Commission with 30 years of service, also served the Commonwealth when he was appointed by Governor George Allen to the Regional Economic Development Council in 1994 and 1995; and

WHEREAS, throughout his years of public service, Wayne Acors made many valued contributions to the organizations and communities he served; he applied himself with great diligence, recognizing the responsibilities that had been entrusted to him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Wayne A. Acors for his 28 years of service to the people of Caroline County as a member and former chair of the Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Wayne A. Acors as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect and admiration for his commitment and dedication to Caroline County and the Commonwealth.
