HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 253
Commending Dale W. Sisson, Jr.

WHEREAS, for 12 years, Dale W. Sisson, Jr., served the community as a member of the King George County Board of Supervisors, overseeing unprecedented economic growth, while maintaining the integrity of the area’s rural charms; and

WHEREAS, a native of King George County, Dale Sisson desired to serve his fellow residents and ran for the King George County Board of Supervisors in 2003; during his 12-year tenure on the board, he served as chair or vice chair for seven years, earning the admiration of his peers for his straightforward, common sense leadership style; and

WHEREAS, Dale Sisson helped King George County become one of the most fiscally sound rural communities in the United States and achieve a AA+ bond rating, which has saved the county more than $1.5 million in interest payments; and

WHEREAS, as a supervisor, Dale Sisson oversaw the establishment of the YMCA in King George County, the construction of a new building for the King George County Sheriff’s Office, enhancements to fire and rescue capabilities, the expansion of L.E. Smoot Memorial Library, and opposed development that was out-of-character for the rural community, all while keeping tax rates low; and

WHEREAS, Dale Sisson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and he is pursuing a doctorate from Old Dominion University; he is currently on assignment at the Pentagon, working for the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (DASN RDT&E), while duly serving as the head of the Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division; and

WHEREAS, Dale Sisson has further served the community as a member of the George Washington Regional Commission, Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council, the King George County Social Services board, and land-use study committees for local military installations; he also volunteers his time as a youth athletics coach; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Dale W. Sisson, Jr., for his 12 years of public service as a member of the King George County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dale W. Sisson, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his contributions to strengthening the future of King George County.
