WHEREAS, Houff Transfer, Inc., a family-owned motor carrier company located in Weyers Cave, has provided superior service to the Mid-Atlantic region for 78 years; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1937 with one truck by father and son H. L. and C. E. Houff, Houff Transfer, Inc., now has a fleet of 170 semi-tractors and 698 trailers that transport nearly 56,800 truckloads annually; and
WHEREAS, Houff Transfer, Inc., takes great pride in providing outstanding customer service with a focus on cost-effective excellence, safety, and reliability; and
WHEREAS, Houff Transfer, Inc., has a centralized dispatch; terminals in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania; and locally domiciled drivers to meet specialized and individualized customer needs; and
WHEREAS, Houff Transfer, Inc., employs highly experienced professionals who are qualified to handle hazardous materials, with most drivers having their security cleared by the Department of Homeland Security and possessing their Transportation Worker Identification Credential; and
WHEREAS, Houff Transfer, Inc., the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, was honored in 2012 with the Governor’s Transportation Safety Award; and
WHEREAS, Houff Transfer, Inc., continues to be family-owned and family-operated, with Douglas Z. Houff as chairman and chief executive officer and Zane M. Houff as president; Dwight E. Houff retired after 43 years of service to the company, including years as chief executive officer; and
WHEREAS, over the past 78 years, Houff Transfer, Inc., has built a reputation for excellence and comprehensive customer service and looks forward to continuing to be a leader in the motor carrier industry in the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Houff Transfer, Inc., on the occasion of its 78th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Houff Transfer, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the company’s contributions to the motor carrier industry and the economy of the Commonwealth.
