2016 SESSION
16104704DWHEREAS, the Orange County High School robotics team was part of a group of three robotics teams that won the 2015 Virginia State Championship FIRST Tech Challenge tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County High School Hornets robotics team collaborated with teams from Albemarle High School and Herndon High School to win the state title at the competition, which was held on February 28, 2015, in Richmond; and
WHEREAS, the talented and creative members of the Orange County Hornets were one of 52 teams from throughout the Commonwealth to take part in the robotics competition; they are ably coached by Laurie Limoge-Jamerson, who teaches career and technical education at the high school; and
WHEREAS, the robotics tournament victory for the Orange County High School robotics team was especially gratifying because it was the group’s first year of competition; the rookies were excited to claim the state title at the end of the tournament; and
WHEREAS, with the state win, the members of the Orange County High School robotics team advanced to the East Super Regional Championship, which was held in March in Scranton, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Laurie Limoge-Jamerson, coach of the Orange County Hornets, attributed the robotics team’s success at the state tournament to the students’ collaborative decision-making skills and their creative minds; the team members also were proud to represent Orange County at the competition; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Orange County High School Hornets robotics team were strongly supported by their families, friends, fellow students, and the entire school community as they prepared to compete in the state contest; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Orange County High School robotics team for being part of a team that won the 2015 Virginia State Championship FIRST Tech Challenge tournament; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Laurie Limoge-Jamerson, coach of the Orange County High School robotics team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for its outstanding victory and best wishes for future success.
