Commending Jackie Moore.

WHEREAS, Jackie Moore of Chesapeake was honored as the 2015 Woman of the Year by the Women’s Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Chesapeake; and

WHEREAS, Jackie Moore has contributed her time and talents to numerous organizations in the area and has been a dedicated member of the Women’s Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Chesapeake (WDHRCCC) since she moved to Chesapeake in 2000; and

WHEREAS, in addition to creating a website for the WDHRCCC, Jackie Moore has served in leadership positions of the civic group; she also has been a member of and chaired several committees and has been historian, assistant treasurer, and second vice president, and was first vice president twice; and

WHEREAS, Jackie Moore was president of the WDHRCCC in 2011 and also serves as the organization’s president for 2016; she has chosen “Amazing Grace” as the theme for the 2016 presidency to honor the volunteers who demonstrate such grace and dedication to the Chesapeake community; and

WHEREAS, Jackie Moore was raised in Ohio; she graduated from Barberton High School and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Akron; and

WHEREAS, currently, Jackie Moore is an application systems analyst for the Department of Information Technology for the Chesapeake Public School division; she also has taught school in Ohio, California, and Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Jackie Moore belongs to the Luncheon Pilot Club of Chesapeake and the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation, has been an ombudsman for the USS Portland (LSD-37), and was liaison for the ship’s family support group; additionally, she is a member of the Chesapeake Education Association, Virginia Education Association, and National Education Association; and

WHEREAS, as a cake artist, Jackie Moore has provided exquisitely decorated baked goods to help raise money for many organizations in Chesapeake; she also is a writer and hopes to complete her first book, Ariana’s Angels, in 2016; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jackie Moore for being named the 2015 Woman of the Year by the Women’s Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Chesapeake; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jackie Moore as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for her many accomplishments and efforts to make Chesapeake one of the Commonwealth’s outstanding communities.
