16100417DWHEREAS, Kenny Eades, a dedicated public servant in Northumberland County who worked to enhance the quality of life of his fellow residents, retired as a county administrator in 2015 after 37 years of public service; and
WHEREAS, a native of West Virginia, Kenny Eades and his family moved to the Commonwealth when he was young; he was reared in Northumberland County and later attended James Madison University; and
WHEREAS, Kenny Eades began working for Northumberland County in 1978 as recreation director; during the course of his career, he served as zoning administrator and as an assistant county administrator before becoming county administrator in 2000; and
WHEREAS, under Kenny Eades’s leadership, Northumberland County maintained much of its rural charm while strengthening and enhancing critical infrastructure to better serve all local residents; the county completed several new schools, a new courthouse, and a new sheriff’s office; and
WHEREAS, Kenny Eades counts the construction of the joint Northumberland Middle School and Northumberland High School complex among his significant achievements as county administrator; he also worked diligently to increase Internet access throughout the county; and
WHEREAS, witnessing numerous changes in the way state, local, and federal governments interact during his tenure, Kenny Eades worked to ensure that staff members and public employees never lost sight of the importance of their commitment to county residents; and
WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement, Kenny Eades plans to spend more time with his wife, Sue, and their grown children and grandchildren and seek out new ways to serve the community in his beloved Northumberland County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Kenny Eades on the occasion of his retirement as county administrator of Northumberland County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kenny Eades as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his service to the residents of Northumberland County and the Commonwealth.
