Commending Kenneth Draper.

WHEREAS, Kenneth Draper, an accomplished first responder who worked to safeguard the lives and property of the residents of Martinsville, retired as Fire Chief of the Martinsville Fire and EMS Department in 2015; and

WHEREAS, first employed by the City of Martinsville in 1983, Kenneth Draper rose through the ranks to become Fire Chief of the Martinsville Fire and EMS Department, a combination agency that responds to more than 3,100 calls each year with both career and volunteer personnel; and

WHEREAS, over the course of his distinguished 32-year career, Kenneth Draper faithfully carried out the department’s mission to provide safe, prompt, and professional services to the people of Martinsville in a responsible and ethical manner; and

WHEREAS, a respected leader, Kenneth Draper ensured that the members of the Martinsville Fire and EMS Department were equipped with the proper tools and training to best serve their fellow Martinsville residents; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Draper is an exemplar of the integrity, dedication to duty, and care for the community displayed by firefighters and first responders throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Kenneth Draper on the occasion of his retirement as Fire Chief of the Martinsville Fire and EMS Department; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kenneth Draper as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his service to the City of Martinsville and the Commonwealth.
