16104466DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Department of Health (the Department) shall conduct a two-year point of disease Lyme disease prevention grant program for Lyme disease. The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and the Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services shall provide assistance to the Department in conducting the grant program. Grants shall be made available to localities with a high prevalence of Lyme disease, per the findings of the Task Force on Lyme Disease "Point of Disease" Prevention Strategies created by Item 85 of Chapter 665 of the Acts of Assembly of 2015, on a matching basis for implementing a point of disease prevention program in approved sites. The program shall include monitoring, surveying, and testing of ticks. The Department may enter into contracts or agreements with private companies to conduct the grant program, and shall report the results of the program to the General Assembly by October 1, 2018.
