16104533DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 54.1-2963.3 as follows:
§ 54.1-2963.3. Treatment of Lyme disease.
When a patient elects treatment in accordance with a clinical practice guideline maintained by the National Guideline Clearinghouse for the treatment of Lyme or tick-borne disease and has been informed of the risks and benefits of such treatment, no health care provider shall be the subject of an investigation or hearing by the Board of Medicine for such treatment, absent gross negligence or willful misconduct.
