HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 547
Commending Satyendra Singh Huja.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, August 17, 2015

 

WHEREAS, Satyendra Singh Huja, the respected Mayor of the City of Charlottesville and president of Community Planning Associates, was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners in 2014; and

WHEREAS, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is the nation’s leading institute for the education and certification of professional planners; it also provides leadership in the areas of ethics, professional development, and standards of practice in city planning; and

WHEREAS, Satyendra Huja was named a Fellow of the AICP for his contributions to the planning field and exceptional achievements in professional practice, teaching and mentoring, research, public and community service, and leadership; and

WHEREAS, as the former Charlottesville director of planning, Satyendra Huja helped revitalize downtown Charlottesville, creating a vibrant and welcoming urban center for the residents of and visitors to the city; and

WHEREAS, thanks in large part to Satyendra Huja’s vision and dedication, the City of Charlottesville was named as one of the best places to live in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Satyendra Huja helped create a healthy economy and diverse, vibrant neighborhoods and preserved the area’s historical and natural resources, strengthening the community for future generations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Satyendra Singh Huja hereby be commended on his selection as a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Satyendra Singh Huja as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his contributions to the Charlottesville community and leadership in the planning field.
