HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 540
Celebrating the life of Elmer M. Rosenbaum.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, August 17, 2015

 

WHEREAS, Elmer M. Rosenbaum, a veteran and an active member of the Abingdon community, died on April 23, 2015, at the age of 100; and

WHEREAS, a native of Damascus, Elmer Rosenbaum served as head of the security detail for a fireworks plant in Bristol during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Elmer Rosenbaum also served his country honorably as a member of the United States Coast Guard; and

WHEREAS, Elmer Rosenbaum worked to enhance the quality of life of his fellow residents as a member of the local Moose Lodge and Abingdon Masonic Lodge 48, where he served as grand master; and

WHEREAS, Elmer Rosenbaum enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a longtime member of Abingdon United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, and son, Fred, Elmer Rosenbaum will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his grandchildren, Tarn and Chloe; great-granddaughter, Moira; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Elmer M. Rosenbaum, a veteran and a lifelong resident of Washington County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Elmer M. Rosenbaum as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
