2015 SPECIAL SESSION I
15200115DWHEREAS, Rebecca Lynn Hayter, a respected veteran and civil servant in Washington County, died on February 2, 2015; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Washington County, Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Hayter dedicated her life to the service of her country and community; and
WHEREAS, Becky Hayter served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was assigned to what is now the United States Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk; and
WHEREAS, after her honorable discharge, Becky Hayter joined the Virginia Defense Force and rose to the rank of captain; and
WHEREAS, Becky Hayter helped serve and safeguard the residents of Washington County as chief dispatcher and 911 operator for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for 40 years; and
WHEREAS, an active member of the community, Becky Hayter belonged to the local American Legion post and enjoyed fellowship and worship with her fellow Washington County residents at Abingdon Bible Church; and
WHEREAS, Becky Hayter will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous family members, friends, and fellow veterans; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Rebecca Lynn Hayter, a respected member of the Washington County community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Rebecca Lynn Hayter as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for her memory.
