2015 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, Paul Snodgrass of Vienna, a respected professional in the insurance industry and a passionate historian, died on April 4, 2015; and
WHEREAS, after relocating to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area as a young man, Paul Snodgrass graduated from The George Washington University; and
WHEREAS, Paul Snodgrass pursued a successful 45-year career in the insurance industry; he worked for Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company and served as vice president of Ralph W. Lee & Company; and
WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement, Paul Snodgrass worked to preserve the history of the Commonwealth and the region as a community activist and genealogist; he edited and published a genealogy journal for the Snodgrass Clan Society and served as president of the Fairfax Genealogical Society; and
WHEREAS, Paul Snodgrass also served as president of Historic Vienna, Inc.; Vienna’s chair of the 400th anniversary of Jamestown celebration; and a member of the District of Columbia Society, Sons of the American Revolution; and
WHEREAS, Paul Snodgrass strove to enhance and strengthen the community as a member of the Vienna Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Optimist Club of Vienna; he enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where he held several leadership positions; and
WHEREAS, Paul Snodgrass will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Florence; daughter, Marjorie, and her family; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Paul Snodgrass, an insurance professional and historian in Vienna; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Paul Snodgrass as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
