2015 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, Vito John Germinario, a hardworking businessman and an active philanthropist in the Northern Virginia community, completed his three-year term as chairman of the board of Excel Academy in 2015; and
WHEREAS, a first-generation Italian immigrant, Vito Germinario grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey, and pursued a career in construction; he currently serves as president and co-owner of GPR, Inc., a commercial glazing company, and LGV Group, LLC, a real estate development company; and
WHEREAS, Vito Germinario was part of the team that built the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and numerous other buildings in the Washington, D.C., area, including the National Intrepid Center for Excellence at Bethesda Naval Hospital; and
WHEREAS, believing strongly in the importance of education, Vito Germinario ably led Excel Academy, an all-girls public charter school in Washington, D.C., as board chair for three years; he remains an active supporter of the school and was named chairman emeritus; and
WHEREAS, Vito Germinario takes a special interest in the youth of the community, supporting a number of nonprofit organizations that benefit children, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Breath for Life, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Vito Germinario also serves as chairman of Feathers from Devon, an organization that provides opportunities for children with disabilities to participate in nontraditional therapies, and Lily Fund and Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, which both support children with brain tumors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Vito John Germinario hereby be commended on the completion of his term as chairman of the board of Excel Academy; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Vito John Germinario as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his service to the Northern Virginia community.
