SUMMARY AS PASSED: (all summaries)

Expungement of police and court records; hearing. Provides that within 21 days after being served with a petition requesting expungement of police and court records, the attorney for the Commonwealth may give written notice to the court that he does not object to the petition and, if the charge to be expunged is a felony, that he stipulates that the continued dissemination of such records constitutes a manifest injustice to the petitioner. If such notice is given, the court may enter an order of expungement without conducting a hearing. This bill is a recommendation of the Virginia Criminal Justice Conference.
