SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 57 Commending Haysi High School football team.   Agreed to by the Senate, January 15, 2015  

WHEREAS, the Haysi High School football team won the Virginia High School League Group 1A state quarterfinal game on November 29, 2014; and

WHEREAS, the Haysi High School Tigers finished the regular season with an impressive 8–2 overall record and a 2–1 record in Conference 47; and

WHEREAS, after defeating J. I. Burton High School and Covington High School in the first two rounds of the playoffs, the Haysi High School Tigers met the Galax High School Maroon Tide in the state quarterfinal, winning the tense game by a score of 29–28; and

WHEREAS, the Haysi High School Tigers advanced to the state semifinal and faced the 2013 state championship runners-up, the Essex High School Trojans; and

WHEREAS, the successful season is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes, the leadership of the coaches and staff, and the energetic support of the entire Haysi High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Haysi High School football team hereby be commended on winning the 2014 Virginia High School League Group 1A state quarterfinal; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James Colley, head coach of the Haysi High School football team, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for the team’s accomplishments.
